Heroes
There are four types of heroes in Runes of Power: the Skirmisher, Brawler, Sniper, and Supporter. There are several different versions of each of these heroes, each with a different appearance, but within one of these four classes all heroes have the same statistics. Each hero type has a different skill point cost.
Heroes on the east team have Night Elf appearances, while heroes on the west team have Alliance appearances.
All Heroes have:
Skirmishers (3 pts) have:
Skirmishers have high movement speed and medium attack range, making them excellent for ranging around the map, capturing Resurrection Stones and Runes of Power, attacking targets of opportunity or supporting other combatants.
Brawlers (2 pts) have:
Brawlers have short range, but low cost, and are effective combatants once within range. Their high attack speed gives them the best damage-over-time of any hero type and allows them to gain the most benefit from skills like Harrowing Hit and Feedback, and since they need to close to melee range to fight, they're in a good position to make use of Deathblow. Consider getting Sprint or Blink to help get within range of enemies before they get too many free hits on you.
Snipers (5 pts) have:
Though expensive and slow, Snipers benefit from a huge range and high damage. Though they have the slowest attack speed, their high base damage gives them better damage-over-time than Skirmishers, and they can gain the most benefit from attack-speed-enhancing skills like Haste and Berzerk. Since the Sniper's attack range is actually greater than his sight range, you'll derive the greatest benefit if you take the Sniper's Sight skill or have an ally spot targets for you. Try to find a defensible location on high ground where you can be the greatest nuisance to enemies.
Supporters (0 pts) have:
Since Supporters have no attack, it is difficult to make them effective in combat. It is not recommended that more than one third of any team be composed of Supporters, and they are not recommended for first-time players. However, Supporters have the most skill points available for customization, especially once you consider the value of the free Steal Power ability, and the fact that they can ignore the attack speed disadvantage of Sylph's Blood, thereby allowing them to get a large movement speed bonus relatively cheaply. Supporters can provide combat support with abilities like Rain of Fire and Holy Light, but where they excel is in capturing Runes of Power and Resurrection Stones for the benefit of their allies.
