Unlockable Happyville Scenarios

Some special scenarios aren't available to be played right when the game starts, but can be unlocked when you meet certain conditions.  When you unlock one of these games, you'll also be given a password, which can be used to unlock the game immediately the next time you play.

In addition to the requirements listed below to unlock each scenario, you must have enough players in the game to fill all of the special roles in that scenario.  For example, the Greater Dead scenario will not unlock unless you have at least two players in the game (one to play the Necromancer, and one to play the Abhorsen).  This rule will not prevent scenarios from being unlocked using a password.

The passwords for each game are not listed on this web site, in order to preserve the fun of earning each of the passwords.  However, there is one special password to unlock all the games at once, which will never be given to you while you're playing, no matter what you do.  To see this password, highlight the following text: killcal

Unlockable Scenarios

Lich

Unhappy: Lich (1)

The lich starts with reduced gold, but has a special form of protection called a death aura.  The first time a person makes a successful attack against the lich, instead of the lich dying, the death aura absorbs the attack and kills the attacker.  The death aura then becomes inactive, leaving the lich vulnerable, but the lich can recharge the death aura by killing a happy person.

Happyville wins if the lich dies.  The lich wins when everyone else is dead.

Requirements to Unlock:  Happyville wins 3 games

Age of Myth

Unhappy: Psycho Killers (up to 4, depending on number of players)

This game works just like the regular Psycho Killers scenario, except that each person has the opportunity to pick one of six special abilities for their character.  The same abilities are available to the psycho killers, happy players, and to bots.

Requirements to Unlock:  Happyville must be defeated 4 times, and play the Psycho Killers scenario at least once.

Greater Dead

Unhappy: Necromancer (1)
Special: Various Undead (unhappy)
Heroes: Abhorsen (1)

In this scenario, when someone dies, they have the option to revive as one of three types of lesser undead (zombies, skeletons, or wraiths).  Zombies cannot be killed by regular means and kill anyone they touch, but move slowly.  Skeletons can kill or be killed with normal combat rules, but they are slower and weaker than the living.  Wraiths look like living people, but can only kill people in the back  The necromancer is immune to the undead and can turn them into greater dead (shadow hands, mordicants, or mordauts), making them much more powerful.

The Abhorsen is a specialist in fighting the undead.  He can stun the undead in an area, and can kill zombies (but not shadow hands).  He can also create wind flutes, which prevent the dead in an area from rising.  Wind flutes can only be destroyed by the necromancer.

Requirements to Unlock:  Play the Necromancer and Evil Spirits scenarios at least once each, and at least three times in total.  Also, Happyville must win at least one game (not necessarily one of those scenarios).

Vampire Wars

Unhappy: Vampire (2 or 3, depending on number of players)
Special: Thralls (unhappy)

Works like the regular Vampire scenario, except there are multiple vampires, all on different sides.  Thralls are only loyal to the vampire who most recently thralled them, and vampires cannot be thralled.

Requirements to Unlock:  Play the Vampire scenarios at least twice, and Happyville must have won the most recent game played.

Happyville & Robin

Unhappy: Psycho Killers (2), Vampire (1), Necromancer (1)
Special: Thralls (unhappy), Zombies
Heroes: Robin (1)

This combines all the characters from the Psycho Killers, Vampire, and Necromancer scenarios, with all of their respective powers and effects.  None of them are allied.

Robin is just like a regular Happyville citizen in all respects, except that he cannot be thralled by the Vampire.  If the Vampire attempts to thrall Robin, the Vampire will get a message indicating he has succeeded, but Robin will remain happy (and will probably want to kill the Vampire pretty quickly).

Requirements to Unlock:  Play the Psycho Killers, Vampire, and Necromancer scenarios at least once each, and at least four times in total.  Also, Happyville must win at least one game (not necessarily one of those scenarios).

Happyville Heroes

Unhappy: Psycho Killers (up to 4, depending on number of players)
Special: Heroic Abilities, Thralls (unhappy), Insane (unhappy), Zombies

In this scenario, every player (including computers), whether happy or unhappy, receives two "heroic abilities"--a minor ability and a major ability.  Players may choose for each ability whether they want an offensive, defensive, or special ability, but the particular ability is assigned at random.  There are dozens of different abilities, some of which have special interactions with each other, leading to a high degree of unpredictability.

Additionally, there are zombies, as in the Necromancer scenario.

Requirements to Unlock:  Play any scenario with zombies, any scenario with thralls, and any scenario with insane.  Additionally, either Happyville must have lost the last 3 consecutive games, or Age of Myth must have been played at least three times.
