I'm really excited about Magi, but I just got the site up, so please bear with me as I fill in the information as I get the chance. This stuff is time-consuming to write, but there should be enough there for you to get a feel for the project, and hopefully to hook your interest.
At the recommendation of more than one person, I've made arrangements for a Magi message board, which is now linked to near the bottom of this page.
The danger with having a message board for your site is that people tend to assume that you will read everything that gets posted there, usually in a timely manner. While I certainly intend to stop by from time to time, please don't be offended if I don't read everything! Email remains the most reliable way to reach me.
With the addition of overviews for metaphysics, psychology, and psionics today, all nine game dimensions now have descriptive pages, and I'm beginning to feel like someone might be able to get a somewhat accurate image of Magi from the web site.
As you can see from all the section titles that don't link anywhere yet, there's still a lot in the works. Hopefully I'll have time to do a lot more updating before spring break is over.
Shadowbane has five primary character attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, and Spirit.
EverQuest has seven primary character attributes: Strength, Stamina, Dexterity, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma (if intelligence and wisdom can genuinely be called different attributes).
Magi has forty-three primary character attributes: Aegis, Agility, Awareness, Charisma, Cohesion, Concentration, Confidence, Constitution, Creativity, Dexterity, Discipline, Discordance, Endurance, Energy, Essence, Faith, Force, Gift, Insight, Intelligence, Integrity, Judgment, Learn, Logic, Memory, Might, Permeativity, Permutability, Persistence, Purity, Reflexes, Resilience, Spirit, Stamina, Strength, Tolerance, Transmutability, Vigor, Vim, Vitality, Willpower and Zeal.
BUT most of them are tied to a specific game dimension, so you don't actually get to use all of them for the same character.
Want to know what they do? Take a look at the primary attributes.
The index of races is under construction. There are a handful of races already listed, and details about each will hopefully be shortly forthcoming. Descriptions of some of the different orders of life are already in place.
Also, expect the tale of Magus Avegnor and the Legend of the Magus to be posted in the next few days.
Speaking of which, it seems that the singular form of the word "magi" is "magus," so I may be making some minor revisions to previously published materials . . .
May 28, 2002 -- The Legend of the Magus
"She comes when the Serpent and Ox shine full
In the bosom of the night
She comes from the womb of the Dechunoi
And is bathed in candlelight
Her people are deeply troubled,
But though she is slight of years,
Her power o'er the ether
Will end her people's tears . . ."
A prophecy has been uttered! Listen as Joshua relates the story of Great Magus Avegnor and the legacy he left . . .
